FlexPai’s Foldable Phone to Become the First Device to Ship with Snapdragon 855

South Korean company Samsung Electronics hopes to become a pioneer of folding smartphone and is expected to release the same phone for the first time. Royole, a relatively unknown Chinese company, set to unveil the world’s first foldable smartphone in San Francisco developer conference China. Currently, the company has officially registered the name of the processor on its website. Believe it or not, Flexpai is the first device on the market to run on Snapdragon 855.

Initially, Royale did not comment on the processor, because the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 was not officially announced at the time. However, the device would have Snapdragon’s latest chipset because the GPU was known to be the Adreno 640. The FlexPai has a 7.8-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1920 x 1440, a 4: 3 aspect ratio and a 16-megapixel 20-megapixel dual camera setup. The device is fuelled by a 3800 mAh battery. Royale has added the Water 9000 UI to run the device. The cmpany claims that they tested the device by folding and unfolding it over 200,000 times.

Flex Pai is available in three versions: 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage variant, 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant and the top-end variant sith 8GB RAM + 512 GB storage. It is priced at 8,999 yuan ($ 1,304), 9,998 yuan ($ 1,449) and 12,999 yuan (1,884) respectively. Pre-orders for the Flexpai’s foldable phone are already being accepted and the it will be shipped by the end of December 2018.

Samsung Electronics is also planning to release the foldable phone in the first quarter, and companies like Huawei and LG are expected to release their first foldable phone soon.
