Nokia X5 (Redmi Note 4 alternative) to officially launch on July 18: Here’s everything we know

HMD which is expanding its Nokia family by unveiling its second smartphone with a notched display which was expected to make its debut on July 11. But later it cancelled the event due to some venue-related issues. The company now confirmed that the X5 will be launched at an event in China this Wednesday, i.e. July 18th. The info was shared by the company’s official Weibo handle.

The teaser poster mentions the Nokia X5, which is pretty much all the confirmation we need. But there is an adequate idea about what to expect from the phone through leaks and rumours before its launch.

As mentioned above, HMD Global will be launching the Nokia X5 in China on July 18th. The launch event will begin at 11:30 IST (2 PM in Beijing). The smartphone will likely go on sale in China a few days after its formal launch on Wednesday. We may have to wait for more weeks for its global availability. In global markets, the X5 is expected to be marketed as the Nokia 5.1 Plus.

Nokia X5 rumoured specifications, features

As far as leaks concerned, Specifications aren’t anywhere near as impressive as the X6. The Nokia X5 is expected to feature a 5.86-inch HD+ display with 19:9 aspect ratio. Similar to the Nokia X6, the X5 will have a notch at the top. Under the hood, the handset is expected to be powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 chipset clocked at 2.0 GHz.

In terms of memory, the Nokia X5 is rumoured to be available in 3GB, 4GB, and 6GB RAM variants with either 32GB or 64GB storage variants. For further expansion, the Nokia X5 will come with a Hybrid Dual-SIM slot, just like the Nokia X6.

On the back of the handset, There will be a dual-camera setup with a 13MP resolution primary sensor and a 5MP resolution secondary sensor. Thanks to the dual-camera setup, the Nokia X5 will be capable of taking Portrait shots with a nice depth of field. For taking selfies and video chats, the smartphone is expected to sport an 8MP snapper on the front.

It is expected that the handset is packed with 3000mAh capacity battery, just a little smaller in capacity compared to the 3060mAh juicer found in the Nokia X6.

On the software front, we expect the Nokia X5 to ship with the latest Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box.

Nokia X5: Price

As per leaks, the Nokia X5 will be launched in two variants. The base model with 32GB storage and 3GB RAM will be priced at RMB 799 (Rs 8,200 approximately). The top model with 64GB storage and 6GB RAM will be priced at RMB 999 (Rs 10,200 approximately).
