OPPO Find N foldable phone confirmed to launch on December 15, design teased

| By DWR Editor

Oppo‘s upcoming foldable smartphone, Find N, has been officially confirmed. Pete Lau, the company’s current chief product officer and OnePlus‘ former head, has announced that the Oppo Find N will launch on December 15. This will be the second day of Oppo Inno Day 2021, the company’s annual event. A tweet from Oppo gives us a glimpse at how the smartphone will look like.

In his open letter, Lau says, “In the past, smartphone evolution focused on the display panel, first combining a small display with a big keyboard, and evolving to today’s full-screen smartphones. But in an era where everyone has a phone with similar configurations, the smartphone experience has come to a standstill. If we can find a way to break through the bottleneck of smartphone displays, we could once again revolutionize efficiency and interactivity.”

“As early as April 2018, the first generation of the Find N prototype was born internally. Although a handful of other brands have already introduced foldable devices to the market, barriers such as utility, durability, and user experience continue to prevent foldable devices from becoming a more feasible daily driver for most people,” he further stated.

Rumors suggest that Oppo Find N will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. It is expected to sport an 8-inch LTPO display on the inside, which folds inwards in a mechanism similar to the Samsung Galaxy Fold series. The folded image also shows a bump for the camera housing on the rear of the smartphone’s outer shell. Oppo is yet to provide details on software enhancements it may have made to the smartphone to ensure app continuity.

OPPO Find N specifications (expected)

Find N is expected to feature an 8-inch LTPO OLED 120Hz inner display, a 60Hz cover display with a punch-hole design. It is likely to have a 32-megapixel selfie shooter. On the rear, the phone is said to come with a triple camera setup that comprises a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 sensor, a 16-megapixel Sony IMX481 sensor, and a 13-megapixel Samsung S5K3M5 sensor.

The foldable phone reportedly packs a 4,500mAh battery that supports 65W fast charging. It is expected to pack a Snapdragon 888 SoC coupled with 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of internal storage. On the software front, it is expected to run on Android 12-based ColorOS 12 flavor.
