OPPO R17, R17 Pro New Year Edition Launched come in 18k gold and red

As expected, Chinese smartphone maker Oppo finally launched the custom New Year edition variants for its R17 and R17 Pro smartphones. According to the Chinese horoscope, 2019 will be the Year of the Pig on this occasion the firm celebrates by unveiling its new year special edition of R17phones that come in the always lucky red.

 

The key highlights are these smartphones come in Red colour with the 18K gold finish around the rear camera compartment. On the rear side, it comes with the new avatar with a logo of the piglet. This lucky icon is repeated as a pattern interspersed with “auspicious clouds” (which represent the heavens and are a symbol of good luck). The smartphone comes inside a gradient gold and red decorated box. As this phones are unveiled as on occasion of the new year we are sure that these are going to be limited edition.

If you love the look, these will be available in China starting at 10:00 on December 21. The Oppo R17 New year edition with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage is launched at CNY 2,799 (approx. INR 29,060) and OPPO R17 Pro New Year Edition with 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage is launched at CNY 4,299 (approx. INR 44,634).

Apart from design, there is also the inclusion of  Hyper Boost technology, both the R17 and R17 Pro New Year editions are just like the standard variants. Hyper boost tech all about enhances the performance of the device to get a smooth gaming experience.

Apart from this, both phones are similar to their standard versions. The R17 Pro new year edition comes with a 6.4-inch full-HD+ display at 1080×2280 pixels resolution. At heart, the device is powered by An octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SOC  chipset coupled with 8GB of RAM. There is 128GB of inbuilt storage on the Oppo R17 Pro New Year’s Edition, expandable via a hybrid microSD card (up to 256GB).

The new year edition bears a triple camera set upon its rear side, with a 12-megapixel sensor featuring a variable aperture from f/1.5 to f/2.4 and a 1.4-micron pixel size, a 20-megapixel sensor with a f/2.6 aperture, and a third lens that is a TOF 3D stereo camera that assists in depth effects amongst other things. On the front, there is a 25MP selfie snapper. A 3,700mAh completes the package with support for (10V/ 5A, 50W) Super VOOC Flash Charge fast charging, which is touted to deliver up to 40 per cent charge in ten minutes. It also has an In-display fingerprint sensor.

While Oppo R17 New year edition is powered by the Snapdragon 670 processor, packs up to 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, a dual camera setup – a 16-megapixel and a 5-megapixel sensor, a 3,500mAh battery.
