Samsung Electronics has launched its latest Samsung Galaxy watch in India.T he smartwatch was launched on the launch event of Galaxy Note 9 in New York last month. The new smartwatch is the successor of to the Gear S4. The corporate has launched the wearable in46mm and the 42mm variants in our country priced at Rs 29,990 and Rs 24,990 respectively. The wearable features a circular display protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass DX+ panel and has water resistance with 5 ATM rating.

The key highlights of the smartwatch are it has an analogue watch ticks and hourly chimes to give the feel of a traditional watch. In addition to this, there is a depth effect that casts shadows to define the detail on the available watch face. The Galaxy Watch also has heart rate monitoring through a built-in sensor and offers a dedicated stress management tracker.

Pricing

The wearable with 42mm version priced in India at Rs. 24,990. while the 46mm variant comes at Rs. 29,990. The sale will be commenced mid-October through all authorised retail channels in the country. The company hasn’t revealed any details about the LTE version of the Galaxy Watch in the country.

The 46mm version comes in three colour options namely Onyx Black, Deep Ocean Blue, Basalt Grey options for interchangeable straps. The 42mm variant, on the other hand, has choices of Midnight Black and Rose Gold body options.

Specifications

The Samsung Galaxy Watch includes a rotatable bezel around the display, over 60,000 watch faces, 5ATM + IP68/MIL-STD-810G standard ratings, a Super AMOLED display. To hit back Apple Watch range, The Samsung Galaxy Watch has a dust- and water-resistant build along with the IP68 rating. Also, it is MIL-STD-810G certified for durability.

The wearable has a stress management tracker that is touted to detect high-stress levels and offers breathing exercises. It is able to detect six common exercises automatically and can last several days on a single charge.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 46mm and the 42mm sport a 1.3-inch, 1.2-inch AMOLED displays respectively, with Corning Gorilla DX+ glass protection on top. The device is water-resistant up to 5ATM and comes with an IP68 dust and water resistance rating. The company claims to have added up to 39 perfectly calibrated workout modes onto the smartwatch.

Under the hood, there is a dual-core Exynos 9110 SoC, coupled with 768MB of RAM and 4GB of onboard storage. Onboard sensors include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, gyro, and HRM. Both variants run on Tizen OS 4.0.

In terms of connectivity, the Samsung Galaxy Watch has Bluetooth v4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, NFC, A-GPS/ GLONASS. There is WPC standard-based wireless charging support. Also, the Galaxy Watch is compatible with devices running at least Android 5.0 or the iPhone 5 and later based on iOS 9.0.
