Vivo iQOO Phone with Snapdragon 865 SoC to Launch in India Soon: Report

Chinese brand Vivo launched the gaming-centric smartphone in China back in April last year under the sub-brand iQOO. The iQOO smartphones were rumoured to launch in India in 2019 and the company failed to introduce them to the Indian market in 2019. Now, it appears that iQOO phone with Snapdragon 865 SoC is already in the pipeline and it might launch in India pretty soon.

As per the fresh report by India Tech Today, the Vivo iQOO phone powered by the  Snapdragon 865 SoC will launch in India in the coming days, although other information about the model name, internal hardware such as camera and battery capacity remains under the covers.

To recall, the company had unveiled the first iQOO phone with a top variant dubbed as Monster Inside Edition. The variant was launched with a sportier appeal with halo lights. However, as per the Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station, Vivo’s sub-brand iQOO is no longer a gaming-focused brand. The company has cancelled the Monster Inside lighting and design an engineering machine of the next generation iQOO. He could be talking about the pre-production unit of the forthcoming iQOO 3.

Furthermore, the report noted that upcoming iQOO 3 will be the company’s first phone to launch with Snapdragon 865 SoC. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 SoC comes integrated with X55 modem which enables support for NSA and SA 5G networks in the home market. Moreover, the report stated that the same phone will be unveiled in India as well. However, the company might launch the phone in 4G version only in the country as the 5G infrastructure isn’t ready in India currently.

The Vivo iQOO smartphone will compete against the likes of gaming-centric phones Xiaomi Black Shark 2, ASUS ROG Phone and Nubia Red Magic 3 in India.
