Smartphone trends are rapidly changing every year and undoubtedly we will see mind-blowing changes in smartphone technology in the upcoming years. In the past few years, smartphone notch and bezels have already been reduced so much. Meanwhile, many smartphone companies are working on foldable smartphones and this technology has already gained a foothold in the market since Royale unveiled the world’s first foldable phone in 2018.

Recently, we came across a report that hinted Xiaomi is working on a foldable smartphone. Now, Xiaomi co-founder Lin Bin just posted an official video showing off the dual foldable smartphone.

Earlier, it was reported that Samsung is likely to release the world’s first foldable smartphone in 2019. Later, popular smartphone brands such as Huawei, LG, and Oppo also confirmed that they are working on the foldable phone. The company’s President Lin Bin has shared a video on Weibo of the foldable phone and he even mentioned that device has been developed after fixing numerous technical issues related to folding screen technology, flexible cover technology, four-wheel drive folding shaft technology and adapting MIUI to the foldable display.

Xiaomi’s global spokesperson, and director of product management, Donovan Sung also posted a video of foldable Xiaomi phone on this Twitter handle. In the 51-second video published by Donovan Sung a device in action shows how folding the sides change the UI. However, as it is a prototype smartphone, the final design of the Xiaomi’s dual foldable phone may change when the company officially launches it.

The dual foldable phone works both as a tablet when unfolded, and as a phone when folded from both the sides. It is worth to mention that the Xiaomi’s foldable device isn’t too big or small in size, and looks comfortable in hand. Furthermore, as it is an engineering prototype, you can’t find any camera on the phone in the small video, but Xiaomi is just showing off how the foldable display works and in the video, Xiaomi’s foldable phone was seen running MIUI 10 with the UI being capable of adapting as per the screen size quickly.
