Asus ROG Phone 2 Hands-On Images Leaked; Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC Confirmed

We are just a week away from the official launch of Asus ROG Phone 2 and the rumor mill is already in a full swing. The smartphone is a successor variant of the ROG Phone, which was launched in last year.

Now, ahead of the official launch in China on July 23, few real-life images of the Asus ROG Phone 2 spotted on Chinese microblog website, Weibo and it has provided some much-needed insight into the device design.

Starting with its design, the leaked hands-on pictures reveal that the ROG Phone 2 will have relatively thick bezels on its top and bottom. The smartphone will launch with a traditional design without any notch or punch-hole in the display. Apart from this, there is a selfie camera on the smartphone is located in the top-right corner. One of the leaked images shows the option to choose between the three refresh rates – 60Hz, 90Hz, and 120Hz.

Separately, the company has revealed the details of the handset’s SoC. The upcoming Asus ROG Phone 2 will be fuelled by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC and this will be the first smartphone to come equipped with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC has a clock rate of 2.96GHz which is 4.2% faster than the current Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform. The Adreno 640 GPU delivers 15% faster graphics performance than the current Snapdragon 855 chipset.

The Asus Rog Phone 2 is expected feature 120Hz refresh rate as compared to 90Hz refresh rate in ROG phone. As per the reports, the phone will arrive in two variants and in terms of pricing, the Rog Phone 2 is rumored to cost around RMB 4,399 (approx. Rs 44,300) for the base variant.
