Pixel 3 Camera Will Automatically Click Selfies When You Kiss Someone

| By DWR Editor

Google’s Pixel smartphones are known for having an amazing camera and Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are no exception. It’s not just about the photo quality. It is about Google’s bunch of new and impressive camera features. In the Pixel 3 series launch event, Google announced the “Night Sight” feature that produces better images when clicked in low-lighting using the machine learning along with some other camera features.

Now, in a new update, Google has added a kiss detection feature in the photo booth mode. So, now kiss a loved one, and the camera will automatically capture it! Amazing. Isn’t’ it?

Google claimed that it has trained their algorithms to accurately detect five common expressions and then capture them and the five expressions include smiling, sticking tounges out, kissing, duck face, puffed cheeks, and surprised look.

“We worked with photographers to identify five key expressions that should trigger capture: smiles, tongue-out, kissy/duck face, puffy-cheeks, and surprise. We then trained a neural network to classify these expressions,” says Navid Shiee, Senior Software Engineer, Google AI.

According to the Google Blog, where the company outlines how it makes Photobooth work the way it does, it says “The frame score considers both facial expression quality and the kiss score.”

For now, this feature is available on Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL smartphones. So, if you have third generation Pixel phones then update the Google Camera app from the Play Store and just go ahead and kiss someone to test the new feature 😛
