Some iPad Pro (2018) units ship with bent frames, but Apple says it’s absolutely normal

If you planning to buy Apple iPad pro we caution you that device appears to be bent, but you shouldn’t be bothered about it because if you ask the Cupertino giant about the issue the company will reply you this not a defect at all. The iPad Pro (2018), which was unveiled back in October . The device comes with two screen sizes – 11-inch and 12.9-inch. If you think it is one affordable product from Apple but you are mistaken this is the one among the costly Apple products that have a starting price of Rs 71,900. With such a price we would expect it to have flawless build quality. Surprisingly, Apple didn’t offer a valid reason for the non-straight sides.

Recently, several customers on MacRumors’ forums complained that their iPad Pro (2018) units had developed a slight ‘bend’ in the chassis, despite not being subjected to any external stress or suffering from any user-induced damage. Some other customers even claimed that their iPad Pros came with already-bent frames out of the box.

To this issue Apple response by confirming to the Verge that “ some of its 2018 iPad Pros are shipping with a very slight bend in the aluminium chassis. But according to the company, this is a side effect of the device’s manufacturing process and shouldn’t worsen over time or negatively affect the flagship iPad’s performance in any practical way. Apple does not consider it to be a defect.”

This worse issue of the device is due to the cooling process, involving metal and plastic components during manufacturing. But this issue seems to be more pronounced with the LTE model Since a plastic strip for the antenna splits metal, there’s a particular spot that might be weak and subject to flexing. Still, owners of the Wi-Fi models are noticing the same issue.

Interestingly there is no issue from any of the flexed iPad Pros has stopped working or failed in its performance due to this issue. Meanwhile, A video JerryRigEverything gone viral discovered these issues in dramatic fashion and blamed them on a microphone’s placement as well as the charging area for the Apple Pencil. With just two weak points, the iPad Pro (2018) bends very easily. You can try straightening out the construction, but that’s borderline impossible without damaging the internal components. But you don’t worry if you buy the iPad Pro (2018). Apple’s manufacturing process for the new iPad Pro can be trusted.
