Xiaomi Mi Band 5 launched with color display, magnetic charging dock

Xiaomi has launched the Mi Band 5 fitness band in China on Friday which is the successor of it’s Mi Band 4 fitness band. The Mi Band 5 has been priced at 189 yuan (approx Rs 2,000) for the standard version while the NFC edition costs 229 Yuan (approx. Rs 2,500). It will be available in eight color straps — Yellow, Blue, Pink, Olive Green, Red, Green, and Brown.

Mi Band 5 Specifications, Features

The core sports a 1.1-inch AMOLED color touchscreen display. The display is 2.5D scratch-resistant glass and has up to 450nits brightness. The Mi band 5 comes integrated with 100+ new animated watch faces and an NFC model for contactless payment. 

On the bright side, the Mi Band 5 has a magnetic charging dock that automatically hooks to the band. So, like earlier Mi bands, users will not need to take out the band from the strap. Arriving at the battery life, the Mi Band 5 is powered by a 125mAh battery, which lasts up to 14 days in a single full charge as per the company.

The band also has a PPG heart rate sensor and PAI (Personal Activity Intelligence) feature, which is also available with Amazfit products. It can track women’s health including menstrual cycle tracking, ovulation record, and more. It comes with 24-hour sleep monitoring with quick naps, REM deep sleep, and light sleep tracking. It can also take pictures with its remote shutter button option.

The Mi Band 5 features 11 different sports modes too, namely running, walking, cycling, indoor running, swimming, exercise, indoor cycling, elliptical machine, skipping rope, yoga, and rowing machine. The band comes with 5ATM certification for water-resistant up to 50 meters. It also has a tri-axis accelerometer plus tri-axis gyro to gauge the atmospheric pressure.
