Xiaomi has added a new member to its Redmi series, dubbed Redmi 9. The brand has launched the Redmi 9 smartphone in Europe for EUR 149 (approx. Rs. 12,800) for the base variant with 3GB + 32GB storage. It’s 4GB + 64GB storage variant is priced at EUR 179 (approx. Rs. 15,300). The phone comes in Carbon Gray, Sunset Purple, and Ocean Green colors.

The handset is powered by the MediaTek Helio G80 SoC coupled with Mali-G52 GPU and comes with 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB storage onboard. It also has a MicroSD card slot, which allows storage expansion by up to 512GB.

The Xiaomi Redmi 9 boots Android 10 with MIUI 11 on top. The phone features a 6.53-inch Full HD+ IPS display with a screen resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 394ppi pixel density, 400nits brightness. The display has a dew-drop notch and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. 

For photography, the Redmi 9 has a total of five cameras – an 8-megapixel (f/2.0) selfie shooter on the front and a 13-megapixel (f/2.2) main camera at the back joined by 8-megapixel (f/2.2) 118° ultra-wide-angle lens, 2-megapixel depth sensor, and a 5-megapixel (f/2.4) macro lens. On the rear, there is an LED flash and a fingerprint reader for biometric authentication.

Fueling the entire package is a 5,020mAh battery which charges through a USB-C port at up to 18W. Connectivity options include  IR blaster, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS, NFC (Optional), USB Type-C and 3.5mm audio jack.
