Asus Zenfone 6 Receives Wi-Fi Certification, to Launch on May 16

Taiwanese company Asus last month confirmed that it will be launching the successor of the Asus Zenfone 5 at an event on May 16. Now, the smartphone Asus Zenfone 6 has just received the official certification by Wi-Fi Alliance. It has been spotted on the Wi-Fi Alliance listings with the model number ASUS_I01WD. The listing mentions the support to the 2.4G band for Wi-Fi networks.

As per the Wi-Fi certification, the Asus Zenfone 6 will support dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n (2.4GHz and 5GHz) and Wi-Fi Direct connectivity features. Unfortunately, the listing does not show any specifications except that the device will be powered by Android 9 Pie operating system. The listing also reveals that the smartphone boasts the model number as ASUS_I01WD with the certification ID WFA81928 and the date of certification being 3rd March 29, 2019.

Earlier leaks revealed that the company may ditch the notch design for a notch-less design which could see it abandoning the selfie camera on the upcoming ZenFone 6 model. The previous leak also revealed the design of the device and hinted at that the Asus Zenfone 6 would feature a triple camera setup and a boxy design with a gradient finish at the back of the phone. The triple-camera setup is situated at the top-left corner and it is vertically-aligned.

As we mentioned earlier, the Asus Zenfone 6 is launching on May 16 in Valencia, Spain. For now, Asus still has to confirm it, so everything should be taken with a grain of salt.
