Xiaomi which introduced its first gaming-centric smartphone Black shark in its home country China got a very good response. In sequence, the company now announced its third gaming smartphone Black Shark 2. The handset is the successor to Black Shark Helo and targeted at hardcore gaming junkies with its powerful specifications. Let’s get in deep into technical specs and features of the phone.

Display & Design:

On display front, The device follows the same display type as its predecessor with FHD+ resolution display with an AMOLED panel but a bigger screen of 6.39-inches. The Black Shark 2 comes with a pressure-sensitivity technology called Magic Press that works similar to Apple’s 3D Touch. On Design wise, It got a waterdrop notch on the top ditching the thick bezels on top and bottom. On the back, it flaunts a metal unibody design with an LED logo that has RGB customisation for different gaming effects. As it is a high-end model it bears an in display fingerprint sensor like other flagships. The device is available in two colour variants-Shadow Black and Frozen Silver.

Camera:

Regardless this device wholly dedicated to the gaming but it got a cool camera feature with a 48MP rear primary sensor accompanied by a 12MP secondary sensor. The device is fitted with a 20MP shooter on the front for clicking selfies. The camera supports for 4K recording and slow-motion videos.

Hardware:

Xiaomi doesn’t compromise on any aspect in its hardware set. To boost the performance of the device it houses Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 855 processor based on 7nm architecture along with an Adreno 640 GPU coupled with up to 12GB RAM and offers up to 256GB internal memory. The device is integrated with Liquid Cooling 3.0 technology that aids in dissipating heat and thermal throttling. The firm claims that this new tech reduces the CPU’s core temperature by up to 14-degrees.

On the software front, The Black shark 2 is preloaded with Android 9 Pie based BlackShark OS. The phone features ‘Ludicrous Mode” which will not waste the CPU power on any other app by driving CPU power into the game.

Battery & Connectivity:

For power, Black Shark 2 is housed by a 4,000mAh battery unit with support for up to 27W fast charging. In terms of connectivity, the device is able to connect to an external display via an HDMI cable. It comes with an ‘X-shaped’ unique antenna design for better reception. The device includes all connective options that a regular smartphone need.

Pricing & Availability:

The Black shark 2 avaialble in all of four storage variants where 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 128GB variants are priced at 3,199 Yuan (~Rs 32,700) and 3,499 Yuan (~Rs 35,800) respectively. The 8GB + 256GB model carries a price tag of 3,799 Yuan (~Rs 38,800), while the top end 12GB + 256GB variant retails at 4,199 Yuan (~Rs 42,900).

For now, the device is available only in China and the prebooking starts from today via the official Black Shark website, TMall, and JD.com with sales commencing from March 22. Good news is the Black Shark 2 will be seen soon in India.
