BlackBerry Key2 with dual cameras, physical keyboard launched

Blackberry KEY2 after its launch in international markets last month. Optiemus Infracom, a BlackBerry brand licensee in India, on Monday launched the latest Android-powered smartphone, BlackBerry Key 2. The new handset comes with a price that is playing in the game which competes against some of the premium smartphones like Samsung Galaxy S9, Pixel 2, and even OnePlus 6.

The company claims that the BlackBerry Key 2 comes with the best of BlackBerry’s software and security features. Further, the Optiemus Infracom has confirmed that it is manufacturing the BlackBerry Key 2 at its facility in Noida, doing its bit to support the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

BlackBerry Key 2 price in India and launch offers

The BlackBerry Key 2 will be available online at Amazon India starting on July 31, 2018, at Rs. 42,990. Coming to launch offers, the smartphone comes bundled with Reliance Jio cashback offer of Rs. 4,450 and ICICI bank cash back offer of 5 per cent.

Specifications and features

Design

The handset is designed with its traditional QWERTY keypad with all latest specification inbuilt. The phone is made of textured plastic and sports a horizontally-stacked dual camera setup, with the BlackBerry logo sitting in the rear centre. The Key 2 also comes with Speed Key which is a universal shortcut key that makes it possible to instantly access apps.

The 3.5mm audio jack sits on the top edge, while all the power and volume buttons are placed on the right edge of the device.

Display

The Key2 sports a 4.5-inch full-HD (1080×1620 pixels) IPS LCD display with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass, a 3:2 aspect ratio, a pixel density of 433ppi, and 24-bit colour depth. The company has embedded fingerprint scanner in the space bar.

Processor and storage

The handset is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC (four Kryo 260 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and four clocked at 1.8GHz), combined with 6GB of RAM. It packs 64GB of storage and supports expandable storage via microSD card up to 256GB.

Operating System and Battery

The handset runs on Android Oreo 8.1. Under the hood, the phone is backed by a large 3500mAh battery with quick charging support.

Optics Department

The smartphone sports dual cameras at the back including two 12-megapixel sensors with 2x optical zoom. At the front, there’s an 8-megapixel selfie camera.

Connectivity options

The phone comes with a fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C, USB OTG, and NFC connectivity options.

DTEK by BlackBerry app now includes the new Proactive Health check feature. It also has the enhanced Convenience Key (called Speed Key by Optiemus), making it easier to access your most-used apps with custom profiles for at home, in the car, in a meeting or on the go.
