CEO Shares Camera Sample From Huawei P30 Pro, Confirms Quad Camera Setup

We are nearer to the launch of Huawei’s flagship P30 Pro, so it’s only natural that the company’s CEO Richard Yu (Yu Chengdong) to start creating hype for the device. CEO of Huawei’s consumer business group, Richard Yu (Yu Chengdong) shared a photo taken from the rear camera of the upcoming flagship Huawei P30 Pro on Chinese microblogging site Weibo.

While the sample image shared by the CEO shows how well the Huawei P30 Pro performs in the night, it would be interesting to see the device handle in all other situations. The photo of the moon shared by the CEO on his Weibo page in celebration of the Chinese Lantern Festival which holds today confirms the number of cameras on the Huawei P30 Pro.

However, he tried to hide the name of the device by blurring some part of the watermark. As you can see in the bottom of the image, the watermark reads “HUAWEI *** Pro” and Leica QU** CAMERA”. There is a model name of the device in the blurred part before the word “Pro”. So it can’t possibly be “Mate 30”.  It is also easy to decode that the covered alphabets after “QU” are “A” and “D” to form the word “QUAD”. Since a new teaser video leaked on Weibo yesterday revealed March 26 as the debut date for the Huawei P30 series, we can assume that it is the device that was used to take the above picture.

The recent report claimed that the Huawei will use Sony’s 38-megapixel IMX607 sensor on the Huawei P30 Pro, and it is likely to be powered by octa-core Kirin 980 or updated Kirin 985 SoC. The P30 Pro is said to come with quad camera setup whereas three sensors for imaging while the fourth sensor is likely to be a time-of-flight sensor for more accurate 3D mapping.
