Back in 2017, Android co-founder Andy Rubin designed and developed Essential Phone and it created some hype in the smartphone market. The Essential Phone was the first smartphone to ship with a notch in the display. But, now the due to the poor response Essential Phone discontinued and the company working on launching its successor soon.

Essential Phone was listed “out of stock” last week at the company’s e-store. Smartphones have disappeared on Amazon, but some third-party sellers are still selling the smartphones. But now, the company confirmed that it will stop the supply.

A rumor about the new Essential phone has appeared and is now officially confirmed by the company. Essential has released a statement:

We are sold out of Essential Phone on essential.com and won’t be adding any new inventory. We are now hard at work on our next mobile product and will continue to sell accessories and provide speedy software updates and customer support to our existing community

It is unclear exactly what this ‘next mobile product’. However, Essential Phones owners will continue to receive security updates and firmware updates in the future. Interestingly, the phone was rumoured to receive updates till Google’s Android Q OS which is expected to roll out in 2020.

A few months ago, Andy Rubin tweeted: “We always have multiple products in development at the same time and we embrace cancelling some in favor of the ones we think will be bigger hits. We are putting all of our efforts towards our future, game-changing products, which include mobile and home products.”
