Facebook to Integrate Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger

According to a new report, Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg is planning to unify the underlying messaging infrastructure of its WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook Messenger services and incorporate end-to-end encryption to these apps.

The new step can be seen as an attempt to attract users to choose one of three applications on Facebook-Instagram, Messenger or WhatsApp. However, the company is still on its early stages of operation and plans to complete at the end of this year or early 2020, the report says. Facebook did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

“We want to build the best messaging experiences we can; and people want message to be fast, simple, reliable and private,” said Facebook in a statement. “We’re working on making more of our messaging products end-to-end encrypted and considering ways to make it easier to reach friends and family across networks,” it added.

According to the report, all of the three apps Facebook, Messenger and WhatsApp will support end-to-end encryption and chat and photo-sharing services would continue to operate as stand-alone apps. End-to-end encryption is a system where only the communicating users can read the messages.

“Their underlying technical infrastructure will be unified, said four people involved in the effort. That will bring together three of the world’s largest messaging networks, which between them have more than 2.6 billion users, allowing people to communicate across the platforms for the first time,” the report added.

This step by Facebook can be more beneficial for Facebook to show higher under engagement to advertisers, boost its advertising unit at a time when growth has slowed down. And as for those who want to continue utilizing Facebook to advertise their businesses, they can also capitalize new services such as friend remover facebook.
