Huawei Mate 40 announced; packs Kirin 9000 SoC, 50MP triple camera setup

Chinese giant Huawei has announced a new smartphone called Huawei Mate 40. Huawei will be selling the Mate 40 smartphone in Europe for EUR 899 (approx. Rs 78,400). The phone will be available in five color options. That includes Mystic Silver, White, Black, Green, and Yellow.

Under the hood, the Huawei Mate 40 carries the 5nm Kirin 9000 chipset. It is paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. These specifications are built around a 6.5-inch OLED with full HD+ resolution and a punch-hole cutout sitting at the top left corner. It serves as a house for a 13MP shooter (f/2.4) which is enough for selfies and video calling. The display has a 2376 x 1080 screen resolution, DCI-P3 HDR, a 90Hz refresh rate, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and an in-display fingerprint scanner.

The phone has a ring-like camera design on the rear and it comprises a 50MP primary lens with f/1.9 aperture, OIS, 16MP ultra-wide angle lens with f/2.2 aperture, 8MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom, and 5x optical zoom range. The phone draws power from a 4,200mAh battery with 40W SuperCharge fast charging technology.

The handset boots Android 10-based EMUI 11 skin on top with Huawei Mobile Services. Other features include 5G SA/NSA, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ax (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.2 LE, GPS (L1 + L5 dual band), NavIC, NFC, USB 3.1  Type-C, and 3.5mm audio jack.
