Mi 9 5G Powered by Snapdragon 855+ Gets TENAA Certification, Reveals Full Specifications

After launching Mi 9 flagship in China in February, Chinese device-maker Xiaomi is getting set to launch its 5G version of the Mi 9. Although the company had kept the specs and the changes in the new variant device under wraps, it was recently spotted on listing website TENAA which revealed some information about the upcoming phone.

TENAA authority in China has certified Xiaomi Mi 9 5G phone. The phone runs on Android 9 Pie. It will feature the same 6.39-inch FHD+ AMOLED display (2340 x 1080 pixels) of the LTE variant. The Xiaomi Mi 9 5G is listed to have an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC clocked at 2.96GHz. It clarifies previous rumors which said the Snapdragon 855+ would power it.

As per the TENAA listing, the Mi 9 5G variant will launch in three RAM variants – 6GB, 8GB, and 12GB, with 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB of storage respectively. Furthermore, TENAA listing reveals that the Mi 9 5G is thicker and heavier than the LTE model. The handset measures 8.95 millimeters and weighs 196 grams. The smartphone is listed with Black, Red, Blue, Pink, White, Green, Purple, and Gray color options. The Mi 9 5G model will pack a 4000mAh battery with fast charging support. The battery capacity has been bumped up by 700mAh in 5G variant. The non-5G variant of the Mi 9 launched with 3700mAh battery.

Apart from the few changes, the new Mi 9 5G variant will see identical specifications to the existing variants. The Mi 9 sports a 6.39-inch Super AMOLED display with a waterdrop notch on top. The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, coupled with 6GB/ 8GB of RAM and 128GB of inbuilt storage.

As far as the cameras are concerned, the Mi 9 features a triple rear camera setup with a 48-megapixel primary sensor 12-megapixel telephoto camera and a 16-megapixel wide-angle camera. Upfront, the handset has an upgraded 24-megapixel selfie camera with AI capabilities.
