Oneplus 5G prototype showcased With Snapdragon 855 in MWC

Shenzhen based company Oneplus showcased its upcoming 5G smartphone in Mobile grand event in Barcelona along with the Snapdragon 855 processor the device will sport Qualcomm’s X50 modem to enable 5G connectivity.

The firm showcased the devices at the Qualcomm 5G demo station to showcase the 5G capabilities of the device. However the company manged not to reveal its upcoming device by sealing the device in a protective case for confidentiality. This is because the device may not a final product so the company  has hidden it.

Along with the company also showcased another device at the same place which shoutouts from the Oneplus community along with messages from the visitors on the booth. Oneplus community members on the company’s “Say Hello to 5G” community page that went live on February 22.

Oneplus showcased the Oneplus 5G smartphone that will be powered by a Snapdragon 855 from Qualcomm along with a Qualcomm X50 Modem. According to the company,futuristic setting of 5G cloud gaming will let you play extremely huger games where you need only a smartphone and a game pad. The company claims that users can “get a taste of 5G cloud gaming” on the device with the help of the upcoming technology. At the launch, the company announced that the device maker is “seen as a leader in 5G connectivity”.

The Oneplus already in talks with various telecom operators like EE in the UK where among it will be the first smartphone manufacturers to launch a 5G smartphone in the country. The company officially confirmed that 5G smartphone will hit the shelves in Finland in the second quarter of 2019 after forging a partnership the top Finnish telecom service provider, Elisa.

As part of the announcement, the CEO and co-founder of the company, Pete Lau issued a statement adding, “5G is a game changer. It can change everything from gaming to communication, to health and beyond. More than that, it can perform several, or all, of these at the same time. One great example of how 5G will change the world is gaming. 5G’s dramatic improvement in speed, latency, and network capacity can truly fulfil the promise of cloud gaming.”
