OnePlus 6T Launched with In-display Fingerprint, Waterdrop Notch and Premium Specifications

OnePlus finally launched their new major flagship phone the ‘OnePlus 6T’ at an event in New York. The OnePlus 6T is the successor of OnePlus 6. The Chinese smartphone maker had previously given a glimpse of the features of the OnePlus 6T several times. The device specs had leaked several times on the internet revealed about the larger 3,700mAh battery, in-display fingerprint sensor, and no 3.5mm headphone jack.

In the launch event, the company confirmed that the OnePlus 6T will be available in T-Mobile stores, the company’s first deal with a US wireless carrier.

Coming to the specifications, the new flagship OnePlus 6T is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 that facilitates the Screen Unlock, protected by Google. The company has added five-calibration settings for RGB on the device. The “immersive” screen has a small waterdrop-style notch and a thin chin. The smartphone comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner and the company claims that it is the fastest-performing implementation of in-display fingerprint authentication yet.

Talking about the cameras, the device features a 16-megapixel primary and 20-megapixel secondary camera sensor on the rear and an aperture of f/1.7 for the primary lens. OnePlus 6T comes with a new Nightscape scene that optimizes the photos taken during the night. OnePlus CEO said the smartphone takes about 2 seconds to capture and process the images in the nightscape. The Nightscape feature is also coming to the predecessor OnePlus 6. The portrait mode is the main thing that the company has worked on to improve the overall camera experience. The Portrait Mode now comes with Studio Lighting that essentially shifts the focus on the subject as it becomes more engaging in the frame in comparison to the other elements.

As leaked previously, the OnePlus 6T is backed by 3700 mAh battery which is bigger than its predecessors and it will also support the company’s proprietary fast charging (previously known as Dash Charging). The OnePlus 6T ships with the OxygenOS running on top of Android 9 Pie.

OnePlus 6T will have two variants – Midnight Black and Mirror Black – at the time of launch. However, the company will release additional variants in terms of color.

The base variant of OnePlus 6T with 6GB/128GB is priced at $549 in the US. While the 8GB/128GB variant is priced at $599. Whereas the top-end 8GB/256GB variant will be available at $629. T-Mobile pop-up event to sell the OnePlus 6T for the first time anywhere in the world. T-Mobile will also be offering a discount of half the amount if you trade in an old smartphone that’s unlocked in the US.
