OnePlus 6T Rumour Roundup: Everything We Know So Far

No headphone Jack!

While the previously launched OnePlus device has the 3.5mm headphone jack while other brands have decided to remove it. Now the OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei confirmed in an interview that the OnePlus 6T device will follow in the footsteps of Apple and they opted to eliminate the headphone jack.

Carl Pie stated “We also had to think about the negative side [of removing the headphone jack] for our users. We found 59% of our community already owned wireless headphones earlier this year – and that was before we launched our Bullets Wireless headphones. If we were to [remove the jack] two years ago, the percentage [of wireless headphones owners] would have been much lower and it would have caused a lot of friction for our users.” in the interview with the TechCrunch.

In-display Fingerprint Scanner

OnePlus has confirmed that the upcoming phone will have an in-display fingerprint scanner, currently found on the likes of the Vivo X21, Vivo Nex and the recently launched V11 Pro. Earlier leaked images of the 6T’s retail box also allude to an in-display fingerprint sensor.

“We unlock our phones multiple times a day, and Screen Unlock reduces the number of steps to complete the action. By adding this feature as an addition to other display unlocking options such as Face Unlock, users will have options to unlock the display in a way that is most efficient for them.” OnePlus said in a statement.

Waterdrop Notch

The OnePlus 6T will have a waterdrop notch we first saw the waterdrop style notch on the Essential Phone. A few days ago, the OnePlus 6T was listed online on a shopping website, Giztop and according to the listing, the OnePlus 6T will feature a 6.4-inch AMOLED waterdrop notch display with 1080 x 2340 pixels and a 91.5 percent screen-to-body ratio.

Same Processor

The OnePlus 6T will be powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor as the predecessor OnePlus 6. The device will have a 6 GB or 8GB RAM and storage extending up to 256GB. The 6T is expected to launch in 3 configurations – 6GB RAM with 64GB of internal storage, 8GB RAM with 128GB of storage, and 8GB RAM with 256GB of storage.

Bigger Battery

Carl Pei claims that, by removing the jack, the firm is freeing up more space to put “more new technology” into the product, remarking that the upcoming OnePlus 6T will have a bigger battery than its predecessor.

OnePlus 6T Costs More?

The OnePlus 6T could cost little more than the current OnePlus 6 that is priced Rs. 35,000. But the price isn’t finalized, as per the reports. But an upgrade with an in-display fingerprint sensor, IP 68 protection, and large battery, there’s a possibility that the base variant could get a price of Rs 38,000 or more.
