OnePlus is all set to launch the OnePlus 8 series smartphones on April 14. The company has been teasing the features and specs of the smartphones ahead of its official launch. Now, the company has confirmed the charging capabilities of the upcoming device. It revealed that the OnePlus 8 Pro will have 30W Wireless Charging support and better haptics.

As per the teaser, the OnePlus 8 Pro will pack a battery that supports 30W wireless charging. Even though the new series will include three new phones likely to be called as OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8 Lite (aka OnePlus Z), only the Pro model will have support for the new Warp Charge 30 Wireless. The co-founder of OnePlus, Pete Lau confirmed on Weibo and in an interview with The Verge that the only Pro variant will support 30W wireless charging support. Now, the brand also made an announcement in the OnePlus Community.

The new Oneplus Warp Charge 30 Wireless Charger will be able to charge the Oneplus 8 Pro from 1% to 50% in 30 minutes with an efficiency of 97% by minimizing the amount of energy converted into heat. The charger utilizes isolated charge pumps, which also act as a kill switch if something goes wrong to provide fast and stable charging. Also, the charger and OnePlus 8 Pro will communicate while charging with the help of a customized chip in the phone to provide maximum efficiency.
The OnePlus 8 Pro will also come with the Qi support, which is the popular and commonly used wireless charging standard. However, these chargers will be only capable of charging the device at relatively slower speeds of 5W and 10W respectively. Further, it has been confirmed that Pete Lau is open to licensing the Warp Charge 30 Wireless tech to other companies which is surprising.
In a separate teaser on Weibo, OnePlus official handle confirmed that the OnePlus 8 Pro smartphone will have a new improved haptic motor with 15% more vibration than the previous generation. Another teaser n the Weibo also confirms new wireless charging animation on the OnePlus 8 Pro featuring the text ‘Warp Charge Wireless’.
