Sony’s first Penta-camera smartphone revealed in new leak

It seems like Sony is planning to announce its first Penta-camera smartphone in the near future, at least according to a new leak. Android Next has published images of what is said to be Sony’s upcoming flagship smartphone – Sony Xperia 1.1 aka Xperia 5 Plus. The interesting thing the report has revealed is its Penta-camera setup on the rear.

A report by a Japanese publication claims that the upcoming Sony’s Xperia-series flagship will have dual-front stereo speakers and a total of five cameras on the rear, out of which one of the lenses will be a periscope unit. While we still do not have the complete specifications of the device, it would not be wrong to expect the phone to come with flagship-grade specifications.

If the report is to be believed, then the forthcoming Sony Xperia 1.1 aka Xperia 5 Plus will feature a 12-megapixel main camera with a 1/1.5” sensor size, a 64-megapixel camera with a 1/1.7-inch sensor size, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with a 1/3.4-inch sensor size, a 2-megapixel Time-of-Flight camera, and a periscope unit with OIS.

Moreover, this new leak is in-line with the CAD-based 360-degree video of Xperia 5 Plus (courtesy of @OnLeaks in collaboration with @Slashleaks). However, a last month’s leak said that the phone will feature a triple-camera setup at the back along with a separate Time-of-Flight camera for depth mapping.

The other specifications of the phone are still being kept under wraps. Stay tuned and keep visiting DigitalWebReview for more updates and articles.
