Stable Android Pie 9.0 OTA Update Rolling Out in India for the Xiaomi Mi A2

Mi A2 is one of the Xiaomi’s camera-centric phone launched recently for the price tag of Rs. 16,999. According to the IDC Q3 report, Xiaomi leads the Indian smartphone market and to celebrate it Xiaomi slashed the price of their popular phones including Mi A2 up to Rs.1000. The device was shipped with the Android Oreo 8.1 out of the box and as this phone is Google’s initiative, the phone was said to offer regular software updates for the next two years. Moreover, Google and Xiaomi had promised in the launch event that the Mi A2 will be the fastest phone to get new Android P update by the end of this year.

Now, stable Android 9 Pie rolling out to Xiaomi Mi A2 with some cool features of Pie such as App Actions, Adaptive Battery, and a gesture-based navigation system. If you are a Mi A2 user, then you can check for the OTA Android Pie update, head over to Settings> System> System Update and tap on Check for Updates button. The update weighs over 1067.7 MB and comes with the November Android security patch. The update is rolling out for Indian users now and is expected to reach global device owners in the coming weeks.

The Mi A2 sports a 5.99-inch full-HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio and 2160 x 1080-pixel resolution. Mi A2 is company’s first phone in India to offer the Gorilla Glass 5 on top while device’s front panel features Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for top protection. The display of the Mi A2 is almost bezel-less and comes without a notch. The frame of the device is made of aluminum alloy and looks premium in hand. Mi A2 has the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 SoC coupled with Adreno 512 GPU for graphics.

In terms of optics, the Mi A2 has a 12MP Sony IMX486 with f/1.75 aperture and a 20MP Sony IMX376 secondary sensor with a f/1.75 aperture on the rear. The front camera is a 20MP one with LED flash. The device packs a 3,010mAh battery and the variant will support Qualcomm’s QuickCharge 4.0. Still, there is no fast-charger in the box. Interestingly, the new Mi A2 does not have a microSD slot and headphone jack.
