The Motorola Razr may coming back as a foldable phone — for $1,500

Lenovo based company Motorola is apparently coming back with Motorola Razr series a famous iconic flip phone which is a popular model ever released just before iPhone and Samsung Galaxy series. Now it is gearing up with a spiritual successor in the form of a foldable Motorola Razr smartphone that could arrive as early as February. Sadly, this got a huge price set to $1,500.

Motorola Razr Foldable Smartphone Launch

According to a report from Wall Street Journal report, The Motorola owned Lenovo has partnered with Verizon to sell the device in the U.S that means the phone could be limited to the US market when it first launches. The report adds Motorola Razr could launch as early as February 2019 with the foldable display. The company is yet to reveal the details regarding the upcoming foldable phone. But interestingly, It revealed the price of the phone that cost $1,500, Isn’t that expensive.

The report doesn’t mention anything about screen size, specifications or features for the new foldable Motorola Razr. But the company is planning to produce over 200,000 units of the new device.

Last year, Motorola was awarded a patent on a folding smartphone de cheap compared to sign that featured a heated central hinge that would “heal” imperfections in the OLED screen caused by the bending. It’s entirely possible this design could form the basis of the updated Razr V3. The high price is might be an inclusion of a heated central hinge.

After Samsung’s Foldable phone announced several smartphone manufacturers are planning to launch their respective foldable phones. As per the reports, the South Korean giant, Samsung is finally launching the phone on February 20. To heat up the race the Motorola is also prepping to unveil its folding phone but the Motorola foldable phone looks quite cheaper than Samsung Galaxy foldable phone‘s possible $1700 cost, the Razr seems like a bargain.

Samsung’s Galaxy F will likely have two batteries at the back, and a foldable screen, which can be divided into two. The device will also be powered by the latest processor from Qualcomm, which is the Snapdragon 855.

Along with these phones, there are more brands taking an active part in foldable phone departmentChina’s Huawei also has plans of releasing a foldable phone in 2019.  LG is also working on foldable phones and has trademarked names like Flex, Foldi and Duplex. Oppo plans to reveal more details about a foldable phone at MWC 2019 in Barcelona.
