Xiaomi already launched Redmi K20, Redmi K20 Pro with pop-up selfie cameras recently in China and expected to reach Indian market very soon. Some reports suggest that Xiaomi is planning to bring a smartphone with an in-display front camera, Xiaomi also got a patent for this design.

A sketch of the patented smartphone design from Xiaomi with an in-display front camera surfaced online. Xiaomi applied for this patent in November 2018. We can observe a light sensor along with cameras on the back side of the screen. It also shows some specifications in the Chinese language that it will also have a secondary display under the main display. Light sensors will work on both primary and secondary screens in such a way that it can be used while clicking selfies and while not in use it will hide in the display itself.

As the information in the image is in Chinese, we are not able to explain much more about the display of this upcoming smartphone from Xiaomi. It is also believed that in the coming years’ smartphones with in-display cameras may become a trend for premium smartphones. Some other companies like Samsung, LG and OPPO also patented similar smartphone devices, but the information is not available with us.

Recently a leak revealed that Oppo may unveil a smartphone with a selfie camera in the display very soon, which also may make Oppo the first brand to launch a smartphone with this unique design. In-display fingerprint sensor feature was also introduced in the premium smartphone in the beginning and now even some mid-range smartphones are also coming with this feature.

We can also expect that this feature will be successful and will be available for wide-range of smartphones across the budget. The best thing about this in-display selfie camera is that there won’t be any pop-up or slider camera mechanism and the smartphone will also have a full-screen experience. We should wait for the official announcements from the company to know more information.
