Xiaomi 12S series confirmed to launch on July 4 with Leica-tuned cameras

Xiaomi is launching its new flagship smartphone series in China. The Xiaomi 12S series will be launched globally on July 4. The upcoming flagship S lineup will include Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro, and the 12S Ultra smartphones.

According to the company, the 12S series uses Leica-tuned camera sensors. Earlier this year, Xiaomi announced its partnership with Leica for an upcoming smartphone camera. Xiaomi 12S Ultra will be the top model in the series. 

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has confirmed it will launch three new flagship devices on July 4. The company is also expected to release the Xiaomi 12S series in India.

While the brand has not revealed any specifications of the upcoming 12S series, there have been some leaks in the past. Xiaomi’s 12S series will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. As for the 12S Pro, it will also launch with a special Dimensity version and will most likely be equipped with Dimensity 9000+.Xiaomi 12 Ultra

Both the 12S and 12S Pro will come with three storage options – 8GB RAM/128GB storage, 8GB RAM/256GB storage, and 12GB RAM/512GB storage. Xiaomi is likely to announce the 12S Pro Dimensity variant with 8GB RAM/256GB storage and 12GB RAM/512GB storage models. It also supports 120W fast charging. As for the vanilla 12S, it will support 67W fast charging.

Display-wise, the 12S, and 12S Pro offer LTPO 2.0 AMOLED displays with support for a 120Hz refresh rate. The back of the phone will feature a 50MP triple-camera setup.

According to reports, Xiaomi will also introduce the 12 Ultra as the Xiaomi 12S Ultra globally. Renders of the device have previously appeared online revealing a circular camera unit, mounted on a square-shaped island.

The quad-rear camera setup will include a 50MP primary camera, a 48MP ultrawide camera, and two periscope camera sensors. According to reports, the smartphone will also have a 6.6-inch display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate.

Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, the forthcoming handset reportedly packs a 5000 mAh battery with support for up to 120W fast charging.
