Xiaomi Mi 9 Display Features Teased by CEO

Xiaomi is set to introduce a new flagship smartphone on February 20 launch event. Called, Mi 9, the smartphone is positioned to counter OnePlus 6 which recently hit the Indian shores. In the latest leaks around the Mi 9, a new Weibo post by company’s CEO has surfaced, revealing some of the smartphone’s display features.

The information has been posted by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun on his Weibo account and hints at the Samsung AMOLED display on the Mi 9. According to the post, the Mi 9 will sport a 6.4-inch display with a full-HD+ resolution along with a 103.8 percent NTSC super wide color gamut and 600 nits of brightness. The Mi 9 will come with the 90.7 percent screen-to-body ratio, which is higher than the predecessor Mi 8’s 83.66 percent screen-to-body ratio.

Lei Jun has claimed that it will come with a third-generation ultrasonic proximity sensor. Furthermore, the device has a feature called eye protection mode which reduces the blue light impact, and the feature claimed to have received a certification from the German Institute of Electrical Engineers.

Lei Jun has confirmed that the Mi 9 will come preloaded with a highlight mode, game mode and a second-generation sun screen technology to enhance sunlight legibility.

Apart from this, Lei Jun reveals that Mi 9 will have an all-new in-display fingerprint sensor that will be 25 percent faster than the predecessor Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition. He also teased some images in his official Weibo account that confirm the existence of a waterdrop-style display notch.

However, nothing is confirmed yet about the pricing. We have to wait for February 20th launch event from the company to make an official announcement.

Previous leaks and rumors confirmed that the Mi 9 will come with Qualcomm ‘s Snapdragon 855 chipset and could be powered by a 3500mAh battery.

In the camera department, the Mi 9 will come with triple camera setup on the rear. The primary camera is 48MP Sony IMX586 wide-angle sensor with an f/1.75 aperture and 6P lens.

The second camera is a 12MP f/2.2 sensor with 2x optical zoom and a 6P lens which will provide background blur effect to the portrait images. The third camera is a 16MP super-wide angle sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and a 117° viewing angle. Up front, the waterdrop notch houses 20-megapixel selfie camera.
