Xiaomi Mi MIX 4 Teased, Hints At A 64-Megapixel Camera

Xiaomi launched the flagship Mi MIX 3 in October 2018 in China and is reportedly working on the Mi MIX 4 smartphone which is the successor to the Mi Mix 3. According to a post on Weibo, the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has confirmed that it will soon launch the Mi MIX 4 smartphone in China.

Xiaomi’s Product Director Wang Teng Thomas has confirmed the company’s plans for the Mi MIX 4. In reply to a Weibo post, Thomas confirmed that Mi MIX 4 will have a camera that should be “better than” the 64-megapixel Samsung GW1 sensor.

Earlier, it was reported that Xiaomi is working on a smartphone with 64-megapixel primary camera. The upcoming Mi MIX 4 is also claimed to have a DxOMark score of 115 points. Up front, the handset is said to offer an AMOLED 2K HDR10+ display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. Powering the device is a 4,500mAh battery that will support 100W fast charging technology in wired mode and 50W in wireless mode. Previous leaks also suggested that the fourth generation Mi Mix smartphone will sport IP68 certification for dust- and water-resistance.

The company hasn’t yet confirmed the launch date of the Mi MIX 4, but the rumor mill suggests a launch in a few months. Earlier, another Chinese brand Realme has showcased a new flagship device with a 64MP camera using a Samsung Isocell sensor recently. So, it is interesting to see who will launch the world’s first 64MP camera smartphone.

Mi Mix 3 Specifications

The predecessor Mi Mix 3 comes with an OLED display of a 6.4-inch 1080p panel and with a 93.4% screen-to-body ratio. The device is powered by the powerful Snapdragon 845 processor with 10GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. In terms of optics, the smartphone features 12MP+12MP Sony IMX363 sensor with f/1.8 and f/2.4 aperture on the rear, and a 24-megapixel selfie camera backed by a 2-megapixel sensor on the front. The device has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, so there is no in-display fingerprint mechanism that we’ve seen on Vivo. Another highlighting feature is the slow-motion video recording at 960 frames per second. The Mi Mix 3 is backed by a 3,200 mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0+ support. The smartphone is bundled with 18W charger and 10W fast wireless charging. This smartphone comes in three color options of black, green, and blue.
