Honor V20 has Sold Less than One-third that of the Redmi Note 7

Huawei introduced the Honor V20 with 6.4-inch FHD+ display, 48-megapixel rear camera and 25MP in-screen front camera on January 22. Another Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi Note 7 two weeks ago, which is undoubtedly one of the best mid-range phones. Just like Honor V20, the new Redmi Note 7 also comes with a whopping 48-camera on the rear. But sales figures on online retail sites have revealed the Redmi has sold many more units than the Honor.

Redmi Note 7 Sale Figures

Xiaomi’ sub-brand Redmi’s General Manager published the picture of the sale stats on Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo. He shared screenshots of the number of units of each phone that has been sold on the online store, Tmall. When he published the post, the Redmi Note 7 had sold 97,994 units while the Honor V20 had sold just 3765 units. Notably, the Honor V20 went on sale earlier than the Redmi Note 7.

However, both phones belong to different categories and Redmi’s General Manager even mentioned in his post that the Redmi Note 7 has sold more units because of its amazing price. The base model of the Redmi Note 7 sells for a third of the price of the base model of the Honor V20.

Even though both Redmi Note 7 and Honor V20 feature 48MP rear cameras, the sensors are different. The Honor V20 uses a Sony IMX586 sensor which has a Quad Bayer filter and actually shoots 48MP pictures while the Redmi Note 7 uses Samsung’s GM1 sensor which sort of interpolates to achieve shooting at 48MP. Xiaomi is also gearing up to launch Redmi Note 7 Pro which will have the Sony IMX586′ 48MP sensor.
