Oppo Reno 2 with Quad Camera Setup to Launch in India on August 28

Oppo Reno 2, the step-up version of the existing Oppo Reno will be launching on August 28. The smartphone is launching in India first, and we can expect it to launch in other countries soon. While the company has revealed the names of the phone that will be unveiled at the event, the Oppo Reno 2, but the company is mentioning the word “Series” in the teaser; thus, the lineup of smartphones is expected to get announced which might include: Oppo Reno 2 and Reno 2 Pro.

However, the company hasn’t revealed any other information about the upcoming Reno2 series. The teaser shows a vertically stacked quad-camera setup on the rear. It also confirms that Oppo is not using the periscope-style camera mechanism seen on the Reno 10x Zoom. The handset supported 5x optical zoom, and this 20x zoom claim is baffling to start with.

Unfortunately, there is no clarification on whether it offers 5x optical zoom and 20x digital zoom or has a different setup. Going by the design, we might see Sony’s 48-megapixel IMX586 image sensor on the upcoming Reno2.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the Reno 2 is rumoured to feature a 6.43-inch AMOLED display and full-view display similar to the Oppo Reno. Under the hood, it is said to pack a 4,065mAh battery with a support VOOC fast charging. The key highlight of the smartphone is believed to be the optics department. The smartphone is likely to feature a quad rear camera setup of an 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle sensor, a 13-megapixel telephoto lens and a 2-megapixel monochrome sensor.
